Election day is Tuesday, game day is Saturday, and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer – his team ranked No.5 in the coaches poll this week, No.6 in the AP poll – didn’t want to enter into a political debate at this point.“Beat Maryland,” Meyer said today.The Buckeyes play at Maryland for just the second time at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The Terps started the season 4-0, but have gone 1-4 since then, including a lopsided loss at Michigan last week. The Buckeyes, meanwhile, are coming off a 62-3 victory over No.10 Nebraska.They are now two weeks removed from the fourth-quarter collapse at Penn State that led to a 24-21 loss, their only fall of the season. After a hard-fought win over Northwestern the next week, the Buckeyes put it in high gear as they shucked the Huskers, much to the delight of their coach.“A group of players made decision to play very well,” Meyer said. “Now, you can throw that one away if you don’t follow up with another good week of preparation.”That week will include Tuesday’s general election, though, the most contentious presidential race in memory.
