Ohio State Buckeyes Jump To No. 2 In CFP Standings; Alabama Still No. 1

Ohio State doesn’t fully control its destiny, but the Buckeyes have positioned themselves for a potential playoff spot with our without a Big Ten title. Ohio State (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten) was ranked No. 2 in the latest edition of the College Football Playoff rankings, released Tuesday evening on ESPN, with undefeated Alabama ranked No. 1. The Buckeyes’ rise can largely be attributed to losses from the teams that were ranked 2-4 in last week’s standings – Clemson, Michigan and Washington. The Buckeyes’ standing is still murky, though, as they won’t have a chance to play in the Big Ten championship game unless No. 8 Penn State suffers one more loss in the regular season. If Penn State wins out, the Nittany Lions will be heading to Indianapolis.
