Ohio State Football: Quarterback J.T. Barrett Named Co-Winner Of Chicago Tribune Silver Football Award

Buckeye quarterback J.T. Barrett has yet another individual accolade to add to his impressive resume.  Barrett was named a co-winner of the Chicago Tribune Silver Football Award, given to the Big Ten’s most valuable player, along with Penn State running back Saquon Barkley. Barrett becomes the 19th player in Ohio State history to win the award, and the fourth in the last five years.  On the season, Barrett finished third in the Big Ten in total offense, tallying 3,275 total yards of offense while also accounting for 33 total touchdowns (24 passing, nine rushing). In addition to being named the co-winner of the Silver Football Award, Barrett was also named the Griese-Brees quarterback of the year, given to the most outstanding signal caller in the conference.  Barrett is also just four touchdowns away from tying Drew Brees’ all time Big Ten record for touchdowns accounted for in a career.
