Ohio State commit Tate Martell named Gatorade National Player of the Year


Ohio State University class of 2017 commit Tate Martell has been named the Gatorade National Player of the Year. He played his high school football at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, but plans to enroll early at Ohio State and has had to transfer high schools in order to do so. Upon the announcement of his honor, he was surprised by former Heisman Trophy winner and Ohio State Buckeyes running back, Eddie George: Martell is a four-star dual threat quarterback that went 43-0 in his time at Bishop Gorman, winning three consecutive state championships. He chose the Buckeyes after de-committing from Texas A&M in May. Previously, he had committed to the University of Washington in July 2012, just to de-commit in January 2015.
