Wednesday, Tate Martell, an Ohio State 2017 commit from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman High School, was informed that he was named as the 2016-17 Gatorade National Football Player of the Year. And just how was he informed? By OSU legend Eddie George. In the high schooler’s house. With the running back in the kitchen baking up some candy Buckeyes, naturally. Again, that’s pretty cool. And, as noted in the video, Martell, a former Texas A&M commit whose decommitment triggered an Aggie assistant’s hissy fit, finished his high school career with an unblemished 43-0 record as the starting quarterback of the national high school power.
