Ohio State made the Playoff in a massive rebuilding year. That’s scary.

The Buckeyes are 11-1, and though they didn’t win the Big Ten, they’re clearly its best team. Their Fiesta Bowl semifinal against Clemson on New Year’s Eve (7 p.m. ET, ESPN) will mark their second Playoff appearance in three years, two seasons after a national title win. Here’s the annoying thing if you’re a fan of Michigan, Penn State, or any other team sharing the Big Ten with Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes: They’re only going to get better. Look up and down 2016’s roster. Ohio State is ranked third by both human pollsters and S&P+, beating teams by a 43-14 average. That the Buckeyes are worse than they will be in the future is an upsetting thought. But it’s serious.
