Time to limit College Football Playoff to conference champions

Clemson beat Ohio State 31-0 in the College Football Playoff semifinals, and Urban Meyer was not happy. “Ohio State is not used to this,” the Buckeye coach said after the Fiesta Bowl. “I’m not used to this, and we will not get used to this. That’s not going to happen again.” Meyer was defiant and determined. Had to make all Buckeyes feel good at a really bad time. But Meyer also came across as entitled. As if this kind of thing doesn’t happen to Ohio State or Urban Meyer. It does happen to every program and every coach. Just not very often in Columbus or Tuscaloosa. Not all that common in Norman or Ann Arbor. Not a familiar occurrence these days in Death Valley or Tallahassee. But it does happen. And sometimes it happens because of college football’s entitlement culture. Are we sure that Ohio State belonged in the playoff…
