To Do List: Buckeye Running Backs Coach Tony Alford


Over his first two years in Columbus, running backs coach Tony Alford has really only had one true running back at his disposal each season. In 2015, it was Ezekiel Elliott, while Mike Weber redshirted. Last season it was Weber, who then shared carries with Curtis Samuel and J.T. Barrett. He had Antonio Williams and Demario McCall in his room as true freshmen, but neither were deemed to be ready for prime time. This year, however, Alford could have more running backs than he knows what to do with, which is what much of his spring will revolve around. True freshman J.K. Dobbins enters the fray, and both Williams and McCall are a year older and wiser. Even if McCall moves to H-back, this will still be the deepest group of tailbacks that Alford had at Ohio State.
