Thayer Munford's untold journey to become a Buckeye


MASSILLON, Ohio – Most who know Thayer Munford’s story only know the final chapter, or even the Cliff’s notes of his journey. The gist of it is he’s a four-star offensive lineman who was suspended for his senior season after the OHSAA deemed that he and Massillon Washington head coach Nate Moore broke bylaw 4-9-4, ultimately stating that he was recruited from Cincinnati LaSalle to play for the Tigers. Munford’s suspension was reduced to seven games, he shined while on the field, Ohio State extended an offer late in the process and he signed with the Buckeyes on Feb. 1. But that is far too oversimplified.
