Why there won't be 100,000 people at Ohio State's spring game this year

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two years in a row, Ohio State has set a new national spring football game attendance record. That includes getting more than 100,000 people in Ohio Stadium last year. The Buckeyes will still have an impressive crowd on Saturday for the 2017 spring game, but it won’t hit six figures. Ongoing construction to the C Deck of Ohio Stadium will keep about 20,000 seats from being used when the Buckeyes annual spring game kicks off at 12:30 p.m. The construction is part of a multi-year restoration project to to preserve the 1922-circa coating and concrete on that level. Similar work was already completed on A Deck and B Deck of Ohio Stadium. Last year, Ohio State announced a spring game attendance of 100,189. The year before that, with the Buckeyes coming off their national championship win, there were 99,391 fans in attendance. Ohio Stadium’s official capacity is 104,944.…
