Evaluation: Shayne Simon, the No. 17 safety in the 2018 class, made trips to a pair of Pac-12 schools, a pair of Big Ten schools and Notre Dame. He is also still involved with in-state Rutgers, and he spoke to Scout about each of them during The Opening Regional at the New York Jets’ practice facility. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Simon plays at Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep, and he has ties to several of the schools, including having a former Prep quarterback Brandon Wimbush at Notre Dame, and teammates Jayson Ademilola and Justin Ademilola committed to the Irish. Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano, the former Rutgers head coach, has a strong relationship with Prep coach Rich Hansen and Michigan assistant Chris Partridge, the former head coach at Paramus (N.J.)
