Ohio State has recruited at an elite level unmatched by virtually anybody in college football outside of Alabama, and they’ve done it at almost every position. Defensive back? They probably signed the best defensive back class ever last cycle. There is a bevy of blue-chip quarterbacks and running backs on the roster, along with an astonishing collection of terrifying defensive ends. The Buckeyes even grabbed the best punter in the country in 2016. But there’s one position group where recruiting has lagged a bit behind, much to the chagrin of some fans, and that’s defensive tackle. It’s not like Ohio State isn’t getting good players. Guys like Michael Hill and Malik Barrow were four-star players, and other elite recruits, like Dre’Mont Jones, and Jashon Cornell, were blue-chippers who moved inside.
