Cut by the Browns, former Ohio State Buckeye Tyvis Powell finds a new NFL home

After some bouncing around throughout his first year in the NFL, former Ohio State captain Tyvis Powell has found yet another city to call home. The safety was signed by the Indianapolis Colts, joining a slew of other Buckeye defenders, including rookie Malik Hooker, Johnathan Hankins, Jack Mewhort and John Simon. Things have not gone according to plan for the former Buckeye, who was initially expected to be among the historic 2015 NFL draft class out of Ohio State. Instead, seven rounds of picks went by without Powell hearing his name. It wasn’t that teams weren’t interested; several called immediately following the draft to get the safety signed as an undrafted free agent. Ultimately, he chose to join the Legion of Boom in Seattle, with some of the leagues most notable secondary players: Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas.
