The Columbus Dispatch A prank story claiming that Urban Meyer had resigned as Ohio State’s head football coach has made the list of last week’s top ‘fake news’ items compiled by the Associated Press. With the rise in concern over false stories online parading as legitimate news and becoming widely shared on social media, the AP began a weekly feature earlier this year debunking such stories. This week’s items include an audit of the Social Security Administration that was not initiated by President Trump but had been completed before he took office; a nonexistent mass grave that was supposedly found at a KKK leader’s former home; and various statements about the Second Amendment, Elvis Presley and the moon landing that were never made by ex-Fox News Channel anchor Gretchen Carlson.
