Urban Meyer and Ohio State should be better than ever in 2017

CHICAGO — Even after a humbling end to the 2016 season, the machine that is Ohio State football might have grown even stronger. A stellar season wasn’t spoiled by a second straight instance of somehow going 11-1 and losing the division, but the Fiesta Bowl shutout sure accomplished that job. Ohio State took one on the chin, but amazingly the Buckeyes could be better for it in the long run. Embattled offensive duo Ed Warinner and Tim Beck are gone, and coach Urban Meyer replaced them with offensive mastermind Kevin Wilson and Chip Kelly student Ryan Day. A poll of Big Ten beat writers conducted by Cleveland.com pegged Ohio State as the overwhelming favorite to win the conference, despite playing in the same division as two other teams that went to New Years Six bowls last season.
