COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football opens the 2017 season on Aug. 31 at Indiana. We’re counting down the top 50 Buckeyes for this season, taking into account talent, past accomplishments, team need and potential. No. 8: Mike Weber, Redshirt Sophomore, Running Back Height, weight: 5-foot-10, 214 pounds. Hometown: Detroit. Where he was ranked entering last season: Weber was No. 14 as we wondered if he could fill Ezekiel Elliott’s shoes. Did he? Weber ran for 1,096 yards last year, after Elliott ran for 1,821 yards in 2015. But Weber’s 6.0 yard per carry wasn’t far behind Elliott’s 6.3 yards. If Weber had received as many carries as Elliott, his pace would have put him at 1,740 yards for the season. What he’s done: He topped 1,000 yards as a redshirt freshman, setting him up to become just the ninth Buckeye with consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons if he gets there again this year. But…
