Ohio State football: Barrett, Dobbins earn Big Ten honors

Tim May The Columbus Dispatch @TIM_MAYsports Two of Ohio State’s Texas connection — freshman running back J.K. Dobbins and senior quarterback J.T. Barrett — were honored by the Big Ten for their production in Ohio State’s season-opening win over Indiana. Dobbins was named the league’s freshman of week after becoming just the second freshman running back in school history to start in a season opener. He rushed for 181 yards and caught two passes for 24 yards in the Buckeyes’ 49-21 win. Barrett was named offensive co-player of the week, sharing the honor with Penn State running back Saquon Barkley.  The native of Wichita Falls, Texas, revved up the passing game in the second half while throwing for 304 yards and rushing for 61 more.
