COLUMBUS, Ohio — The website fivethirtyeight.com released its first college football predictions for 2017 on Thursday as the site, which analyzes sports and politics with data, checked in on playoff and conference championship chances. Ohio State is in very good shape by those numbers. The Buckeyes have the seventh-best chance to make the College Football Playoff, with a 24 percent chance according to the site. Four undefeated teams from top conferences lead the way, not surprisingly. * Alabama, 66 percent * Clemson, 55 percent * Oklahoma, 45 percent * Washington, 40 percent If you believe those four teams will finish the season undefeated, the Buckeyes are in bad shape.
