COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward’s caused fumble against Maryland on Saturday won’t count in the official stat book, because Ward got ejected for targeting on what looked like a clean hit. But in the Buckeyes’ view, that play counts. Urban Meyer on Tuesday said the play on which Ward was ejected was sent to the Big Ten for review, and that it was deemed the incorrect call. “You turn it in each week. We had someone on our staff call Big Ten officiating, and the report back was that on the field it’s a snap judgement, but the replay official, it was an error,” Meyer said. “So we’re going to reward Denzel Ward today at practice for a caused fumble.
