How Ohio State football scholarships are allotted on defense

Ohio State’s scholarship total finally is at the required 85, and the Buckeyes are balanced between offense and defense. Roster management always is a concern at a school where underclassmen often leave for the NFL and players who don’t produce within a couple years frequently look to transfer. However, Ohio State has balanced the roster pretty well on both sides, with 40 scholarship players on offense, 41 on defense and four on special teams. Of course, managing the number of players within each position group presents its own challenge. What follows is a position-by-position look at the Ohio State defense.
