COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference today named Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell its co-Freshman of the Week for his performance in the Buckeyes’ 52-3 win over visiting Rutgers on Saturday. Martell went 10-of-10 passing in the contest. That set an OSU record for the highest completion percentage for a passer with 10 or more attempts in a game. The previous mark was held by Bill Mrukowski, who was 10-of-11 (90.9) in a 1961 game against UCLA. Dwayne Haskins, OSU’s starting QB, had 20 completions in 23 attempts Saturday for an 86.9 percentage, the No. 3 single-game mark in school history. Martell threw for 121 yards and his first college touchdown pass, covering 51 yards to Terry McLaurin. He also scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 47-yard run.
