Sam McKewon's Big Ten football predictions: Ryan Day keeps Ohio State hot before Urban Meyer's return

LINCOLN — Ryan Day is almost certainly in his last year as Ohio State’s co-offensive coordinator. The 39-year-old acting head coach for the Buckeyes has done a sterling job of leading the team in Urban Meyer’s extended game-day absence. When Meyer fully returns from his three-game suspension — levied by OSU for Meyer’s mishandling of domestic abuse allegations against former receivers coach Zach Smith — he should let Day run the offense and not meddle. Day has done so well — especially as the voice of the program — that he’ll be at the top of most coaching lists come December. Maryland, potentially looking for a new head coach should D.J. Durkin get fired, could do a lot worse than Day. Day and Kevin Wilson have done a great job — to the tune of 650 yards and 64.5 points per game — through two games against Power Five opponents.…
