J.T. Barrett released from New Orleans Saints practice squad: Ohio State football news

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has been released from the New Orleans Saints practice squad, according to a report from Nola.com. Barrett, who signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent last spring, didn’t make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of training camp, but spent the first two weeks of the season on the practice squad. He was let go in a series of roster moves by the Saints on Wednesday.  The Saints have Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill backing up starting quarterback Drew Brees. Barrett, the former Big Ten Silver Football winner completed 6 of 11 pass attempts in preseason action. He could end up back with the Saints practice squad pending more moves, or look elsewhere around the league for a spot.
