To get where they want to go, Ohio State has to run the ball

Ohio State’s rushing offense is not where the Buckeyes want it to be. The Scarlet and Gray ranked 17th nationally running the ball in 2017 (243.21 rushing yards per game) and were at about that same mark the two years prior. In 2014, Ohio State averaged 264.47 rushing yards per game and the season before that, it was up to 308.64 yards per game. All of that came with a talented run-first quarterback, who either picked up yards with his legs or kept the defense thinking about the possibility that he could. This year, the Buckeyes average 185.43 rushing yards per game but the numbers through the air have skyrocketed under Dwayne Haskins.
