A former Ohio State University football player is expected to take the stand Thursday afternoon to testify in his own defense in a rape trial. Bri’onte Dunn, 25, faces two counts of rape stemming from a Aug. 20, 2017 incident involving a woman he had dated. If convicted Dunn could face up to 22 years in prison. Dunn was previously facing an additional count of rape but the court moved to dismiss that count. Dunn maintains the sex was consensual. The trial, which is in its third day, had testimony from a forensic scientist at the Columbus Division of Police crime lab. Amanda Fashano told the court that a positive match for Dunn’s DNA was not found in the woman’s vaginal area. However, his DNA was found externally on the woman’s body.
