LINCOLN — For one of college football’s biggest rivalries, the Michigan-Ohio State series sure runs in streaks. We’re four decades removed from the “Ten-Year War” between the two schools, in which Bo Schembechler’s Wolverines won five games, Woody Hayes’ Buckeyes won four and the two teams tied in 1973, effectively canceling each other for the national title. Reading about those 10 years is a real trip, even though neither team, in that span, actually won a national title. Michigan dominated the series in the late 1980s and 1990s. Ohio State has dominated it since the day Jim Tressel took the job in 2001. Since the Ten-Year War, Ohio State has won two national crowns — 2002 and 2014 — and Michigan won one in 1997.
