COLUMBUS, Ohio — The College Football Playoff debate is narrowing. it appears that the fourth playoff spot will come down to the Big Ten champion and the Big 12 champion, assuming Ohio State and Oklahoma, the one-loss favorites, win next week. No. 10 Ohio State (11-1) will play Northwestern in Indianapolis on Saturday night. No. 6 Oklahoma (11-1) faces No. 14 Texas (9-3) in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday at noon. Assuming No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Notre Dame win out, those two conference champs could be a coin flip for the committee. There are always other things that can happen. If, for instance, No. 5 Georgia beats Alabama in the SEC Championship next week, then the SEC might get two teams in the playoff and both Ohio State and Oklahoma might be out of luck.
