COLUMBUS, Ohio — For Ohio State to have any shot to make it into the College Football Playoff, it had to start by beating Michigan. The Buckeyes completed step one as they blew out Michigan in record-breaking fashion, 62-39, on Saturday at Ohio Stadium. Ohio State has now won seven straight games against the Wolverines and has lost just once since 2003. The 62 points Ohio State scored are the most it has had against Michigan in the long history of their rivalry. The Buckeyes scored 50 in 1961 and 1968. Freshman receiver Chris Olave’s hands set up three of the biggest plays in his first Ohio State-Michigan game. He caught two first-half touchdown passes from Dwayne Haskins, his first TDs of his college career. Olave then blocked a Michigan punt in the third quarter.
