AP college football poll, Week 13: Why Ohio State passes Oklahoma on Doug Lesmerises' ballot

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State moved up to No. 6 in the AP poll on Saturday, but remained behind No. 5 Oklahoma. That’s not the result Ohio State wants on Tuesday night when the new College Football Playoff rankings come out. Those, obviously, are the only rankings that matter. But don’t take what the AP did on Sunday as a sign of what the playoff committee will do, because AP voters are generally averse to change and don’t move teams around until the committee tells them it’s OK. Free thinkers, we are not. So the Buckeyes jumped four spots in the poll, which you knew they’d do with a win over Michigan. Ohio State jumped to No. 5 on my ballot, ahead of Oklahoma. Why? I think the offenses are about equal, Ohio State’s defense is slightly better and Ohio State has better wins than the Sooners. Actually, I contemplated…
