J.D. Duplain is officially a Spartan. The 2019 three-star offensive lineman from Strongsville High School in Ohio sent his national letter of intent to Michigan State on Wednesday morning, the first day of the three-day early signing period. With that, Duplain joins a rare club as an Ohio recruit who turned down an offer from the Buckeyes to sign with Michigan State. Senior running back LJ Scott is believed to be the only player on the current roster who did so and he has just one game left, the Dec. 31 Redbox Bowl against Oregon, before departing for the NFL. At 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds, Duplain is the No. 37 recruit in Ohio, No. 49 guard and No. 776 player overall in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
