COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ryan Day stood at the front of Ohio State’s team room Wednesday and introduced his first recruiting class as the Buckeyes football coach. It was significantly smaller than any class Urban Meyer signed here. But that had nothing to do with Day. This smaller class was coming whether Ohio State changed coaches or not. Fifteen players signed with the Buckeyes as part of the early signing period, which opened Wednesday. Here were the sizes of the classes Meyer signed from 2012-18: 25, 24, 23, 26, 24, 21, 26. That’s quite a drop-off to 15.
