When Ohio State defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones made his announcement earlier this month that he’d be entering the NFL draft, it came with an important clarification: He’d still be suiting up with the Buckeyes to face Washington in the Rose Bowl. That used to be a given, but not so much anymore. For projected first-round picks like Jones, the risk/reward of playing in a bowl game is an expensive calculation.
