
My head has created two narratives about the Ohio State Buckeyes. One is the optimist in me and the other comes from a more realistic point of view. The positive take is as follows: Ohio State got boat-raced by Purdue, went to overtime with Maryland, were losing at halftime to TCU, and barely escaped a winless Nebraska team. There’s no doubting their talent, but are they a dominant force? I’ve had little trouble convincing myself that they are not. On the other hand, the Buckeyes are a 12-win B1G champion with a drop-kicking of Michigan on their resume. Most years, this team’s track record nearly guarantees a playoff birth. This is as daunting of a Rose Bowl opponent as their ever could be.
