Pelegrin Vargas notched 15 kills, the Mastodons tallied 10 1/2 team blocks and No.15 Purdue Fort Wayne defeated Ohio State 3-0 (34-32, 25-17, 25-23), ending a nine-match skid against the Buckeyes on Tuesday night at the Gates Center. A combined 19 service errors stretched set No.1 out, needing nine extra points to crown a winner. Finally, Vargas took over – as he often does – and used a tough kill followed by a rocket of a serve that sent two Ohio State players diving to notch the winning point for the Mastodons.
