Turnovers doom Buckeyes at home, fall to Illinois 63-56

(Photo: Joe Maiorana, USA TODAY Sports)Thursday night’s home game with Illinois wasn’t a must-win for Ohio State but Buckeye fans leaving Value City Arena after the 63-56 loss to the Illini certainly felt like this was a bad loss. Point guard C.J. Jackson led all scorers with 17 points thanks in large part to going 8-of-11 at the free throw line. This went along with his seven of the Scarlet and Gray’s 18 turnovers, that led to 14 Illinois points, to just two assists. The Illini were led by sophomore guard Tim Frazier and freshman guard Ayo Dosunmu who each finished with 15 points. Despite the Buckeyes twice leading by four early in the game, it was an ugly start to the contest for both teams. The Scarlet and Gray and the Illini both turned the ball over on their opening possession. This was always going to be an issue…
