Defensive-minded Gophers upset Ohio State

The Gophers opened up a two-goal lead at Value City Arena and played their most structured defensive game in weeks to survive a pair of Ohio State rallies and upset the Buckeyes 4-3 on Friday, Feb. 15. Jack Sadek, Nathan Burke, Ryan Zuhlsdorf and Scott Reedy scored for the Gophers (12-14-4 overall, 9-9-3-0 Big Ten) who had lost their last four road games. Eric Schierhorn, who was making his first start since Dec. 29, finished with 21 saves, including 13 in the third period when Ohio State made a desperate push. The Buckeyes (19-6-4, 12-4-3-2) had lost just once since before Thanksgiving, but fell to 0-1-2 versus Minnesota this season.
