
The University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team (12-14, 3-11) scored a 79–62 Valentine’s Day upset over the Michigan State’s Spartans (17-7, 7-7) Thursday night at the Kohl Center. The Badgers worked up a big lead early and never looked back.After jumping out to an 8–0 lead early in the first quarter, the Badgers used efficient outside shooting to close out the quarter with a 22–8 advantage. From there, the Badgers formed a 22-point lead midway through the second quarter thanks to 15 points from senior Marsha Howard. Wisconsin led 46–27 at the half and out-rebounded Michigan State 22-16. Wisconsin would stretch their lead to as many as 27 in the fourth quarter, and the Spartans would trail by at least 17 for the remainder of the night.
