Ohio State basketball’s unsurprising loss to No. 14 Purdue highlights its offensive problems

COLUMBUS, Ohio — To no one’s surprise, Ohio State lost to Purdue on the road without its leading scorer Kaleb Wesson. But what was surprising is the fact that it was a lopsided 86-51 game where Purdue’s offense clicked while Ohio State’s looked helpless from the opening tip. The Boilermakers knocked down eight threes in the first half and Carsen Edwards put up 19 points. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes only made six shots in the entire first half and at times looked unable to create quality scoring opportunities. Head coach Chris Holtmann found himself desperately looking for some form of offense in the second half electing to start walk-on Joey Lane for his shooting. This didn’t get any better. Edwards finished the night with 25 points and Purdue continued to run up drive up its lead. Despite this lopsided loss the positive is that it shouldn’t do much to hurt Ohio…
