Ohio State football in a two-man race for five-star 2020 linebacker Mekhail Sherman

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class currently holds eight players and only one is on the defensive side of the ball. That isn’t that alarming, given the Buckeyes replaced four of five defensive coaches from last season and it takes a while for new faces to become familiar to top high-school talent. It’s normal that players will want to get to know the new staff. But with all the expected changes to the defense this season, it’s best for coaches to build a relationship as quickly as possible so players can focus on what matters most in selecting a school: What is this defense going to look like and what does that mean for me?
