COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s scholarship offer to Garrett Wilson arrived without proof, just promise. When the Buckeyes offered Wilson in December 2017, they were coming off a season in which they ranked 36th in the nation in passing yards per game, though they were fifth in passing efficiency. Urban Meyer’s dedication to throwing the ball down the field more had led to the hiring of a first-year offensive coordinator named Ryan Day. The result was Ohio State pushing fifth-year senior J.T.
