In mid-April, Ohio State men’s volleyball coach Pete Hanson announced his retirement after serving the program for 35 years. On Tuesday, the Buckeyes announced the man who will replace the legend and they didn’t have to go far. Hanson’s assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Kevin Burch was named the ninth head coach in program history.Burch served as a volunteer assistant while he was a student at Ohio State from 2009-11. He has also served as the head coach of Columbus State Community College’s women’s volleyball team, was an assistant coach at Springfield College (2012, 2014) and University of California, Irvine (2013) and was the Director of Operations for the Penn State’s women’s volleyball team (2014).
