Penn State’s James Franklin and Pennsylvania’s top players: How has the coach done the last six years?


There’s still time for Southern Columbia five-star wideout Julian Fleming to change his mind, but his verbal commitment to Ohio State on Friday sure looks like it will stick. Fleming is an elite talent and ranked No. 6 nationally in the 2020 class, according to the 247Sports rankings. Losing the top player in the state to the Buckeyes, a perennial Big Ten power, is a significant blow to James Franklin’s program. Penn State was thought to be a favorite to land Fleming’s services up until the last few weeks. But this isn’t the first time Penn State has lost the state’s top prospect to another program.
