When someone thinks of Ohio State athletics, it tends to be about the players on the field. In football, legendary names like Archie Griffin, Howard “Hopalong” Cassidy, Eddie George or more recently the likes of Troy Smith, Ezekiel Elliott and Dwayne Haskins come to mind. In basketball, people think of Jerry Lucas, John Havlicek, Jim Jackson, Michael Redd, Greg Oden and Evan Turner. There are the coaches as well. Woody Hayes, Earle Bruce, Jim Tressel, Urban Meyer. Harold Olsen, Fred Taylor and Thad Matta. The names go on and on and feature plenty who are less recognizable to some in the non-revenue sports. What often doesn’t get recognized are the people in the stands. The ones that pay money or dedicate their time to come out and support the Buckeyes.
