Dwayne Haskins named Ohio State Athlete of the Year

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Even though his days as a Buckeye are over, Dwayne Haskins continues to rack up accomplishments. The former Ohio State quarterback has been named Ohio State Athlete of the Year along with track and field national champion Sade Olatoye. Haskins earns the award after leading the Buckeyes to a 13-1 record — 8-1 in the Big Ten while setting 28 school records and seven conference records. In his only season as a starter, Haskins threw for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns. He is the first football player to earn the honor since Troy Smith in 2007. The Maryland native helped the Buckeyes to wins in the Big Ten Championship and the Rose Bowl before being selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.
