Haskins, Olatoye named Ohio State’s 2019 Athletes of the Year

Dwayne Haskins and Sade Olatoye were named Ohio State’s Male and Female Athletes of the Year on Wednesday. Haskins becomes the first football player to win Ohio State’s Male Athlete of the Year award since Troy Smith in 2007 and the 10th overall. Olatoye is the sixth female track and field athlete to win Ohio State’s Female Athlete of the Year. The last to do so was Christina Manning in 2012. The 2018 college football season was the first and only year Haskins started at quarterback for the Buckeyes. After waiting behind J.T. Barrett for his first two seasons in Columbus, Haskins ripped up the Ohio State and Big Ten passing record books on his way to becoming a Heisman Trophy finalist and eventually the No. 15 selection in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.
