It seems only fitting that the explosive, highly visible Muskegon High School rising senior announced his verbal commitment on the Fourth of July. Martinez has pledged his allegiance to powerhouse Ohio State, confirming the news with MLive this week and then announcing it to the masses via Twitter Thursday morning.
The dynamic 5-foot-11, 190-pounder, who plays quarterback for Muskegon but projects as a wide receiver and/or defensive back in college, chose the Buckeyes over 28 other Division I offers. Martinez held scholarship offers from 21 Power Five programs, including the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Florida State, Kentucky and Penn State, among others.
