When Chris Holtmann came to Ohio State ahead of the 2017-18 season, he had a lot of fixing to do. The Buckeye men’s basketball program had fallen on hard times, missing the NCAA Tournament in consecutive years and coming off a dismal 18-15 season where the Scarlet and Gray went 6-10 in the Big Ten, lost in the first round of the conference tournament and weren’t invited to any postseason tournaments. Holtmann has done a remarkable job turning Ohio State around on the court. The Buckeyes surprised the country and the Big Ten when they went 26-9 in his first year in charge, including 13-4 in conference play. The team was led by the Big Ten Player of the Year in Keita Bates-Diop and returned to the Big Dance, advancing to the second round.
