Cody Simon is one of the top linebacker recruits in the entire region. The four-star recruit recently made his college declaration, picking the Ohio State, and represented New Jersey, St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) and the Buckeyes at The Opening Finals, an invite-only event held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas from June 30 to July 3. It’s arguably the most high profile high school football event in the nation, as only the most elite athletes are selected “after film evaluation and/or in-person evaluation at one of The Opening Regionals,” according to the website. A 6-1, 214-pound senior with freakish athleticism, Simon was the only player to make the event from New Jersey.
