Plenty of big-time matches appear on Penn State’s wrestling schedule this season; the problem for Nittany Lion fans is that most of them are not in State College. Iowa City. Minneapolis. Phoenix. Lincoln. Madison. Even Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. But not nearly as many in State College. Ohio State is the headliner and will be treated as such in the team’s annual showcase match in Bryce Jordan Center. Rutgers is in Rec Hall on Jan. 19 and should create a decent atmosphere because there’s no love lost there, but other than that … well, bring on the Buckeyes. The BJC match is on Feb. 15. Penn State’s men’s basketball team has a noon game that day against Northwestern, so it will be a quick turnaround to set up a match for that night.
