
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State basketball started its season 1-0 for the 15th straight season Wednesday night, playing a strong second half in claiming a 64-56 home win over Cincinnati at the Schottenstein Center. That score matches last season’s road win over the Bearcats. Kyle Young led Ohio State with 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting. He and freshman guard D.J. Carton (3-for-5, nine points) were the only Buckeyes to make at least half of their shots. Center Kaleb Wesson finished with eight points and 11 rebounds. The game was ugly for most of the first 20 minutes. Ohio State didn’t score its first points until the 12:19 mark of the half when Carton found Young for a fast break dunk. But the deficit was just 6-2, as the Bearcats missed eight of their first 10 shots as the Buckeyes missed their first seven shots along with three missed free throws.…
